How it works

  1. 1

    Choose PDF files

Drag one or more PDF files into the field above. Each file is numbered independently.

  2. 2

    Pick position and format

Place the page number left, centered or right in the footer and choose between a plain number (“3”) and the total format (“3 / 12”).

  3. 3

    Save the numbered PDF

Save the result straight from the browser – with multiple files also bundled as one ZIP archive.

Your benefits

No upload, no queue

Page numbers are written into the PDF locally in your browser. There is no server, no waiting line and no privacy risk – even for confidential documents.

Cleanly placed, even on rotated pages

The numbering always lands visibly in the footer – even when individual pages in the document are in landscape or have been rotated.

Ideal for applications and reports

Merged documents only look complete with continuous numbering. Combined with the merge tool, a finished dossier takes two steps.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded to add page numbers?

No. Page numbers are inserted entirely locally in your browser. Your file never leaves your device – our Content Security Policy makes uploads technically impossible.

Where are the page numbers placed?

Left, centered or right in the footer of every page, with sufficient margin from the page edge. The type is set in a subtle gray that doesn't compete with your content.

Can I use the “page 3 of 12” format?

Yes. Besides the plain number, the “3 / 12” format is available, which also prints the document's total page count.

Does numbering always start at 1?

Yes, numbering starts at 1 on the first page of the document. If you need an unnumbered cover page, split it off first with the split tool and merge it back afterwards.
