Your benefits
Local instead of cloud
Your images are converted right in the browser – there is no upload, and our Content Security Policy technically prevents one. Your browser's network tab will confirm it.
Safe for client projects too
Agencies and web teams can convert unpublished designs and client graphics without handing material over: no third-party data processing takes place, so no data processing agreement is needed.
Optimize entire image sets for free
Up to 50 graphics per run – perfect for optimizing a website's whole image folder for better load times in one go. No sign-up, no watermarks.
Frequently asked questions
Why should I convert my website's PNG images to WebP?
WebP files are typically 25 to 80 percent smaller than PNG at comparable quality. Smaller images mean faster load times, better Core Web Vitals scores and therefore an advantage in Google rankings – on most websites, images are the biggest performance factor.
Is the transparency of my PNG graphics preserved?
Yes. WebP fully supports transparency (alpha channel). Logos, icons and cut-out graphics keep their transparent areas – at a much smaller file size.
Do all browsers support WebP?
Yes, all modern browsers – Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge – have fully supported WebP for years. Only very old software such as Internet Explorer cannot display WebP.
Which quality preset is right for website images?
For most web graphics, “Balanced” is the best choice. For photos that need to be especially small, “Smallest file” pays off; the live estimate under “Advanced” helps you find the ideal trade-off.
Are my graphics uploaded during conversion?
No. The entire conversion runs locally in your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly – your files never leave your device at any point.
Can I convert confidential design drafts as well?
Yes. Since no data is transmitted at all, unpublished layouts, mockups and internal visual material remain exclusively on your computer.
