Your benefits
Processing without data leaving
The conversion happens entirely in your browser. Our Content Security Policy technically rules out any connection to processing servers – a glance at the network tab is all the proof you need.
GDPR safety built in
Since your images never leave the device, no form of data sharing takes place. No data processing agreement, no review by your data protection officer – even for images showing people or business content.
Batch processing at no cost
Convert up to 50 AVIF files in one run – free, with no sign-up and no watermarks. And with no upload, there is no waiting either.
Frequently asked questions
What is AVIF, and where did my AVIF file come from?
AVIF is a very young image format based on the AV1 video codec that compresses even more efficiently than WebP. More and more websites serve images as AVIF – so saving such an image leaves you with an AVIF file, often without noticing.
Why won't AVIF files open in many of my programs?
Because AVIF is still very new, support is missing in many image viewers, older Office versions, photo editors and business applications. JPG, by contrast, has been readable by practically every piece of software for decades – converting makes your images universally usable.
Does the image lose quality when converting AVIF to JPG?
With the “Best quality” setting, the visible image quality is preserved. Both formats use lossy compression; at a high JPG quality level, no difference can be seen with the naked eye.
Are my AVIF images uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion takes place exclusively locally in your browser, implemented with JavaScript and WebAssembly. Your files remain on your device throughout.
How many AVIF files can I convert at the same time?
Up to 50 files per batch – each with its own progress indicator. Download the finished JPGs individually or as a ZIP archive.
Can I use this tool for business images?
Yes. Because all processing stays on your machine and no data flows to third parties, the tool is fully suitable for business imagery – from product pictures to photographed paperwork.
