Remove PDF metadata
PDFs often carry invisible metadata: author names, company accounts, creator software, timestamps. This tool deletes them before you pass a document on – entirely locally in your browser, with no upload.

How it works
- 1
Choose PDF files
Drag one or more PDF files into the field above – whole batches are cleaned in a single run.
- 2
Remove the metadata
One click clears author, title, subject, keywords, creator software, dates and embedded XMP metadata.
- 3
Save the cleaned PDF
Save the cleaned document straight from the browser. The visible content remains completely unchanged.
Your benefits
Share without traces
The author name from a Windows account or the software stamp of the creating program has no business in a proposal you send out. After cleaning, the document contains none of these details.
A private tool for private data
A metadata remover that first uploads your files to a server would defeat its own purpose. Here everything stays on your device – technically enforced by our Content Security Policy.
Visible content untouched
Only the invisible document properties are removed. Layout, text, images, bookmarks and form fields are preserved exactly.
Frequently asked questions
Which metadata is removed from the PDF?
The info dictionary entries are cleared – title, author, subject, keywords, creator software, producer, and creation/modification dates – plus embedded XMP metadata.
Is my PDF uploaded for this?
No. The cleaning happens entirely locally in your browser. For documents with sensitive metadata, an upload would be the actual risk – here it is technically impossible.
Does cleaning change the document's content?
No. The visible content – text, images, layout, bookmarks and form fields – remains unchanged. Only the invisible document properties are emptied.
Why does my PDF contain personal data at all?
Office programs and PDF printers automatically record the signed-in user name, company name and the software used. Many senders don't know these details are embedded in the file.
Does the tool also remove comments or redacted content?
No. It removes document metadata only. Visible comments, annotations or improperly redacted content must be checked separately before sharing a document.
