Frequently asked questions
Does converting JPG to PNG improve my image?
No. JPG compression already removed image information when the file was saved, and a conversion cannot bring it back. PNG merely preserves the current state losslessly – it does not add quality.
Why is the PNG file larger than the original JPG?
PNG stores images losslessly and therefore compresses photos far less than JPG. For photos, the PNG can easily be five to ten times larger. This is normal and not a flaw in the tool.
When does converting JPG to PNG make sense?
Mainly in three cases: when an application or form strictly requires PNG, when you plan to edit and re-save an image several times without losing quality at every save, or when you are combining the image with graphic elements such as text and lines.
Are my JPG files transmitted anywhere?
No. The conversion runs entirely locally in your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. Your images never leave your device at any point.
Can I convert several JPGs to PNG at once?
Yes, up to 50 files in a single batch – with a progress indicator per image and a bundled download as a ZIP archive.
Is this tool suitable for confidential photos?
Yes. Because all processing happens on your own device, you can safely convert sensitive images such as photographed contracts, HR documents or internal product shots.
